What are you looking for?
There are quite a few ways to cover windows in the home, and each can be adapted in terms of design style, functionality, and affordability. The method of attachment is also important. There are not only traditional day and night or fabric models on the market. You may also come across so-called Venetian blinds. What are they?
Venetian blinds resemble by their appearance a rolled up curtain or curtain that forms attractive waves. As a result, they not only cover the window but also create a decorative effect. There are many fabrics to choose from, so you can match them to your interior design style. Arranging the fabric in folds suits rather classic arrangements. Such a solution looks great, for example, in a rustic, English, or Provencal style.
High-quality Venetian blinds will last for many years. They look good both pulled up to the ceiling and lowered. In Polish homes, it is rare to find such a covering; fabric roller blinds are definitely more popular. Nevertheless, the Venetian model is most often combined with voile curtains to emphasize the decorative character of the window.
Like most window coverings, Venetian blinds perform the function of shading a room on a sunny day. As there are many fabrics to choose from, you can opt for more or less insulation from the surroundings. This is a big plus, especially in flats that receive a lot of sunlight. This model of window coverings will work well in living rooms, bedrooms, or children's rooms.
More translucent fabrics will allow the sun's rays to subtly enter the room. At the same time, the light will not be strong and irritating. Other fabrics can be lined with a so-called blackout, which is responsible for darkening the room. In such conditions, you can rest comfortably at any time of the day.
Venetian blinds also provide protection from the neighbors. They will be appreciated by those who live in a high-rise or block of flats, as well as in a single-family housing estate. They can be fitted to all types of windows.
It is also worth mentioning that Venetian blinds have a decorative function. So you don't have to put up extra curtains or drapes. Raised roller blinds have attractive waves that look great whatever the fabric. When lowered, on the other hand, they resemble a smooth curtain, which is not a disadvantage at all. If you choose a subtle and uniform fabric, you can achieve a delicate but distinctive effect. Heavier fabrics, e.g. with patterns, work well for spacious interiors.
Disadvantages include the fact that the fabric can attract dust, which is not good news for allergy sufferers. You also have to be careful when opening the windows so that the fabric doesn't break. Tilt is not a big problem. However, if you decide to cover the roller blind and open the window to the reveal at the same time - this is rather impossible.
There is no denying that Venetian blinds will work better in classic interiors. Modern arrangements with buffets, which are not difficult to pass by, may not be consistent with each other. They are also often used together with classic curtains, and not everyone is keen on such glamour in the living room or bedroom. We also have to admit that Polish interiors have recently been dominated by minimalism, consistency of arrangement, and Scandinavian and modern style. It is then better to opt for a different solution.
If the distinctive look of fabric pleats doesn't quite appeal to you, you have even more options for window design. One idea is Roman blinds. They are great for large windows because they cover them completely. They are made of fabrics that give a decorative effect, but they can be more subtle or expressive. It all depends on the style of interior design. Roman blinds are fitted to the wall, ceiling, or window frame. They bring a cozy feel to the room and at the same time darken the space.
