How do I remove glue from a window after a mosquito net?

There are many covers available on the market to provide peace of mind during spring and summer and prevent insects from entering. Some of these require the use of Velcro. How do you remove the adhesive from a window after a mosquito net has been removed?

Mounting a Velcro mosquito net - think about it before you make a mistake

In spring and summer, many insects and insect pests enter our homes and flats. So it is no wonder that we look for many ways to reduce this problem as much as possible. There are many products available on the market that you can use yourself, without the help of professionals. It turns out that not all of them require you to think about how to remove the glue from the window after the mosquito net.

The most popular are special nets that are bought by the meter. This solution is certainly easy to install and remove, but can cause problems. Fixing requires sticking Velcro tape to the back of the door frame, on the interior side. This must be degreased and cleaned of dust. You can use either extraction petrol or alcohol for this. The mesh is then stretched and fastened. Of course, it must be cut to size beforehand. Correct installation of the mosquito net will help it to last longer.

Poor-quality materials may detach from the window after some time, so it will be necessary to degrease and reapply the Velcro. Adhesives are also not permanent and will not hold on an unprepared surface. However, the big plus point of this solution is that it is non-invasive to install and can be replaced quickly if damaged. It is also not a high cost in terms of product.

Removing a mosquito net - when is it worth it?

Unfortunately, poor-quality nets can break and tear at any time. Every mosquito net also needs to be cared for. This way you will be satisfied with its appearance and it will last for many seasons. Unfortunately, strong winds often cause mechanical damage, especially if they are velcro-fixed mosquito nets. Then it is necessary to dismantle it.

If you opt for a high-quality durable insect screen, such as a framed one, it is worth thinking about the method of attachment beforehand. The whole structure should be easy to handle so that, in the event of problems, it can be removed non-invasively. In autumn and winter, whenever possible, it is a good idea to remove the mosquito net. Why? The frost can affect the net's loss of resilience and elasticity. During spring and summer, damage can start to appear. You can also clean the net by dipping it in water with mild detergent.

How do you remove glue from a window after a mosquito net? We suggest

When you pull down a net attached to Velcro, the question arises as to how to remove the adhesive from the window after the mosquito net. The residue does not look aesthetically pleasing, but it is not worth taking drastic steps. Do not use a knife, razor blade, or other sharp objects. It is definitely better to try home remedies. Before proceeding, assess what material the surface is made of. If it is wood or painted windows, it is better not to use strong chemicals and detergents.

Try to get rid of the glue residue with a damp sponge and some washing-up liquid. If this doesn't help, try the spirit, high-proof alcohol, or extraction gasoline. Use a soft cloth (e.g. microfibre) and rub the areas where glue has remained. Turpentine can also be effective, but it is not worth using on painted windows.

Remember to wear gloves when using strong agents, extraction petrol, or spirits. It is better to protect your hands from drying out. Always test the product on a small area of the window frame. Then you will be sure how it works and whether it will damage your finish.

Mosquito nets for door

What instead of a glue-on mosquito net? We give you a hint!

If you don't want to have the problem of fabric peeling off, glue residue on the window, or mosquito nets detaching, opt for more robust solutions. You can choose between frame, door, roller and pleated models. You can easily adapt the mosquito nets to your design and they can even be used on large surfaces.

The frame model, for example, can be fitted with swivel hooks. If you want to take it down in autumn and winter, you will find this incredibly easy. This product is a great alternative to the classic netting. What's more, if you opt for a reliable manufacturer and high-quality materials, there won't even be a need to drill into the window surface. At the same time, the mesh does not interfere with the aesthetic appearance behind the window. The most important issue is the right size, and the rest is up to the manufacturer.

A pleated mosquito net, on the other hand, facilitates easy and smooth operation if you want to use a patio or balcony door on a daily basis. This is a great convenience in flats, offices, public spaces and homes. Pleated mosquito nets are mounted on a special frame, so they roll up like an accordion. Such products look very aesthetically pleasing and are extremely functional. They are designed for balcony and terrace doors, as well as large glazed areas. They can also be fitted to non-standard-sized windows. The installation of such mosquito nets does not require glue, and all the components in the kit from the manufacturer are for self-fixing.

The rolled mosquito net somewhat resembles a traditional roller blind. When retracted, it retracts into the runner. A special cassette is fitted over the window, which is aesthetically pleasing and practical. As you can see, you don't always have to choose adhesive-fixed products.
